BMW 8HP Park-Lock Kit

HPR & Seems Legit Garage are proud to provide two Park Lock Release solutions for BMW transmissions.

The BMW ZF 8HP is well known for its performance and durability, but one common inconvenience is that the transmission remains locked in Park unless the engine is running and sufficient hydraulic pressure is available to release the parking mechanism.

This can make moving the car around the workshop, loading it onto a trailer, performing alignments, or towing it in an emergency unnecessarily difficult, as the drive wheels remain locked when the engine is off.

Together, Seems Legit Garage and HPR have developed a simple mechanical solution that allows the parking mechanism on most BMW 8HP transmissions to be manually released without the engine running or the transmission being powered.

Choose Your Release Style:

Standard: The original Park Release design — a simple, proven solution for most street cars, swap builds, and race applications.

The Standard kit features a laser-cut and CNC-bent steel release handle and mounting bracket, finished in a durable black powder coat.

It provides a simple and reliable way to manually operate the transmission park release cable, making it ideal for installations where a straightforward pull-style release is preferred.

GT: The GT version is inspired by the mechanical park release system found in Factory BMW race cars and provides a more motorsport-oriented installation. 

Instead of the standard pull handle, the GT kit includes a mechanical locking release arm that can be positively placed into the released position. 

Construction

Both versions are built for reliable, long-term use in performance, race, and swap applications.

The transmission-side bracket and lever are machined from 6061 aluminum and finished with a black anodized coating for improved corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and durability.

Note:

If you are using the 8HP Thermostat Oil Pan with this kit you will need to space out the cable in order for it to clear the Thermostat. (Additional hardware will need to be made in order to move the arm and holder out)
